Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming higher education, yet many educators lack consistent, actionable guidance on responsible use aligned with pedagogical goals and ethical standards. This workshop introduces the ongoing development of an IEEE standard for responsible AI use in higher education, organised across key domains including teaching and learning, assessment and academic integrity, student support, educator development, and institutional governance. The session provides a brief overview of the emerging framework and engages participants in shaping its development through structured discussion and interactive breakout activities. Participants reflect on how the guidance supports practice in their own contexts and explore ways to meaningfully engage with the standard. By bridging principles and practice, the session supports educators and institutions in adopting AI in ways that are consistent, scalable, and ethically grounded.

This tutorial offers a structured exploration of four active learning interventions — Collaborative Pedagogy, Critical Pedagogy, Inquiry-Based Learning, and Problem-Based Learning — proven to address engagement deficits in Sino-UK Transnational Education engineering programmes. Drawing on recent empirical research, the session translates educational theory into actionable teaching strategies tailored for TNE's unique cultural and logistical contexts. Participants engage in guided exercises to evaluate how each pedagogy stimulates behavioural, emotional, and cognitive engagement. By blending theoretical insights with practical demonstrations, the tutorial equips educators, curriculum designers, and academic developers with evidence-based frameworks to enhance the pedagogical quality and long-term sustainability of transnational engineering education.

Managing Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in large engineering programmes involves tracking how students perform against Programme Learning Outcomes (PLOs) across many courses, semesters, and assessment types. In a Transnational Education (TNE) setting, where programmes are jointly delivered across different countries, this becomes harder to manage and even harder to report accurately for accreditation.
This workshop presents the OBE Portal, a web-based system developed by faculty members associated with Glasgow College UESTC, the University of Glasgow's engineering partner in Chengdu, China. The portal helps academic staff track CLO and PLO attainment, manage assessment records, and generate accreditation-ready reports. AI-assisted features, including question analysis using Bloom's Taxonomy and support for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) processes, are also part of this portal. The system is designed with transparency in mind. AI suggestions are intended to support academic staff rather than replace their judgement, keeping educators in control. This reflects the conference's emphasis on responsible, human-centred AI in education.
The workshop connects directly to this year's TILE-TEC themes: using GenAI to improve institutional quality assurance, reduce administrative workload, and support better decision-making in a TNE context. Participants will see a demo of the portal, take part in a hands-on CLO–PLO mapping activity, and discuss how similar approaches could work in their own institutions.

This workshop proposes a dual reframing of Generative AI: as connective infrastructure operating across three levels — individual emotional experience, peer relationships, and inter-community connections — and students as co-creators rather than passive absorbers. The session draws on a multi-level curriculum case study at a nursing college in Macau, China, where students designed AI agents for subject learning and community health promotion. Participants experience an AI-mediated music co-creation platform for youth wellbeing firsthand, exploring how GenAI bridges health professions and school education. Curriculum findings reveal learners transitioning from passive absorbers to critical co-creators, with meaning-making emerging as the connective thread linking individual agency to collective creation. A pilot feasibility study with school and community youth is underway, with preliminary findings to be presented.
